Some people describe this as feeling like someone is standing on their chest. This area may feel very tight and make it difficult to breathe deeply, especially without coughing.

There may be quite a bit of wheezing sounds. This is created by the mucus and inflammation which is restricting air flow in the bronchial tubes. The wheezing sound is the air trying to get through a much smaller space than usual. Along with the wheezing you may feel very short of breath. It feels like no matter how many breaths you take in you just can’t catch your breath. These bronchitis symptoms are sometimes worsened by any activity.

Bronchitis will cause some coughing as the lungs are trying to rid themselves of excess mucus buildup. Usually the cough will produce some amount of mucus. It will generally, be clear or slightly dull in appearance. If it is has a yellow or green appearance it is likely that there is also a bacterial infection present.
